A rooftop venue lives or dies on one thing: the moment a guest steps out and the view opens up. At SEEN Muscat — the rooftop bar and lounge crowning the Tivoli hotel at Muscat Hills — everything we built was in service of that moment, from the sightlines down to the colour of the light after sunset.
Designing around the golden hour
The terrace faces west over the golf course and the hills beyond, so the space had to look its best in low, warm evening light. We chose a walnut-toned composite deck that reads rich under the setting sun, frameless glass balustrades that all but disappear, and a sculptural corten-steel feature whose rust patina glows amber exactly when the bar fills up. Outdoor materials here have to survive fierce daytime heat and coastal air — the corten and marine-grade fixings are chosen to weather gracefully rather than merely look good on opening night.
Warmth on the inside
Step in from the terrace and the mood turns intimate: a book-matched marble bar, brass shelving that catches the light, deep green velvet and tan tufted leather, and a double-height backlit wine wall that becomes the room’s lantern after dark. Every joint of stone, every run of timber and every brass profile was detailed and installed in-house, so the transition from bold outdoor gesture to warm interior feels like one continuous idea.
A hospitality space like this is really a sequence of first impressions — arrival, the view, the bar, the last drink at dusk. Delivering it turnkey meant one team holding all of those moments together, and that is exactly what a venue with this much riding on atmosphere needs.
